How It Works
Why isn’t this service free?
We like to think of ReferredMe as a Patreon for your career. Our service is offered at a low monthly rate to support the maintenance and growth of the platform. We truly believe that what we are doing here will have a profound impact on our members and we want to create a self-sustaining service that can withstand the test of time.
Why should I refer other members?
We get this one a lot. Here’s 4 reasons why you should refer other members.
1. Help Others
The most obvious reason to refer members is to help others find and secure jobs that they would enjoy and be good at. This is the reason most of us give referrals to friends and family. The goal of ReferredMe is to simply create an environment that encourages the expansion of that support to more people.
2. Help Your Company
Finding great candidates to fill roles is difficult. Your company probably spends a lot of time and money to procure each new hire. Referring people that you believe are a great fit can be a big help for your company’s recruiters and hiring managers.
3. Help Yourself
Working in a company that is missing people in key roles is stressful. These open job positions are posted for a reason and filling them would be great for all current employees (including you). Having someone new in a role to pick up the slack and ease the overall workload can do wonders for any work environment.
4. Help Your Future Self
Most of us will find ourselves looking for a new job at some point in time and we all want to make the process as easy as possible for ourselves. Supporting the growth and development of the ReferredMe community ensures that this community is available for you when you need it in the future.
How do I know if I should refer a requester?
We recommend simply reviewing the requester’s profile / resume and comparing it to the job they are interested in. If you believe that they match the role as written then you should probably refer them.
Remember, this is just the first phase of the application process. Your referral will help the requester break through the crowd, but you are not single-handedly deciding if this person will get hired. You should feel free to recommend multiple requesters and trust that the recruiters and hiring mangers will pick the best candidate in the end.
How do I refer someone?
In the ReferredMe platform, you can refer someone by simply clicking “Accept Request” on a Referral Request when you are logged into your account and on the Referral Requests page. Each Referral Request contains default text telling the requester to list your name under the “How did you hear about this position?” section of the job application. That is typically all it takes to provide a referral.
Some companies do have more elaborate referral process that can be utilized to further boost a candidate. We encourage anyone who wants to go the extra mile for a referral to do so. If that is you, then you should start by emailing your internal HR department and asking if there is an special process for providing a referral. If there is, then you can share that with the requester in the initial referral acceptance message or via the chat that is created after you accept the referral.
Where can I get the answer to my other questions?
If the question you want to ask is not listed here, then you can simply email contact@referredme.ai to ask them.
